Smelling the sunset

It happened again.

That beauty thing.

When words and photography

and  a passion  for life

swept over me.

It's like being able to smell the sweet

smell of sunset.

I can hear our local church bell ringing,

calling the faithful to prayer.

The day has fractured itself open

and out of it has spilled,

beauty.

All over me, covering me in the scent of cinnamon.

I'm remembering the songs

and that one summer night

as we waited on the tube and explored

the mysteries of love.

In that one, balmy September night,

I looked inside you and knew

I would never find my way home  from beauty

again

  1. Hi Petal!

Oh! You joined a book club! That's something I'd love to do, if only I had more time... I'm sure it will lead you to discover lots of wonderful books!

I'm just catching up on all of your inspiring posts (yes, inspiring!) I absolutely loved this:

    "The raindrops

    are writing their names

    across the attic window"

How beautifully you write, my darling!

A sound of birds singing

It's early.  And almost a year since I was here. I hear a sound of birds singing  outside my window and a dog barking down the street. ...
