On looking back

We forget so quickly ~

in these days of instant access.

I'm so guilty of this,

demanding total obedience from all electric gadgets,

and online subservience.

Every now and then I'm reminded of it,

by the small still voice within.

The above photos moved me to tears.

They were taken in a school gymnasium

in the tsunami hit town of Natori.

Last night as I rummaged through a box of old

snapshots of my mom, my dad, and other family members

I realised how fleeting,

how fragile this gift we call life is.

The damaged photos in that town in Japan say it all.

Japan, today,

I thought of you.
