On a great wall

It's no secret that I love

Chinese culture.

Someone dear to me,

 gave me that love,

like a tender,

precious flower,

and

it's been pressed against my heart ever since.

Today,

the beauty came in my thoughts.

Sometimes I  have to close the world out

with it.

The beauty, that is.

The world,

cloaked in loveliness and yet so much ugliness.

A strange paradox.

The music of Schindlers list, for instance as I drove

to work making my heart ache at the memory of that movie,

it brought a lump to my throat as it always does.

Then, this music that is

 the song of today.

It made me think of Chinese friends here

and those who aren't .

I miss one in particular, very  much.

Let there be diamonds under my feet all day,

I thought~

as I walked the corridors of work.

That way,

some beauty will soak into my toes.

  1. I love the Chinese culture too! Always have done. The colours, the patterns, the fashions, the traditions, the landmarks... I've never been to China but my great grandmother visited it in her old age and claims to have walked across the whole great wall (although I don't think this is actually true because of her age at the time and her failing mobility).

May the beauty soak through your toes and shine all around you, today and always.

Pretty misty stars

A sound of birds singing

It's early.  And almost a year since I was here. I hear a sound of birds singing  outside my window and a dog barking down the street. ...
