On dreams
Through the attic window today
the sound of a plane in the sky.
For as long as I can remember I've loved the sound
of planes.
Perhaps it's the traveller in me.
Yearning for far away places.
The breeze last night as we travelled home
from dinner with friends
was cut straight
from the paper moon.
It brought with it
dreams of this season of falling.
Falling leaves
falling in love
falling apples
falling mists over the commons and sleepy little Hamlets
of England.
Today perhaps I'll go in search of blackberries.
Stain my fingers with them to the colour vermillion.
Come home,
just in time for evensong.
Dream of leaving this town forever.

I love blackberries - they taste of autumn! :) I hope you found lots and lots - enough to go in a pie or crumble! But it's nice to eat them freshly picked.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a good weekend sweetpea.
