What summer brings

Yesterday was the bluest day,

and I have the freckles on my nose

to prove it.

The breeze was warm

and smelled of salt,

bringing with it promises of the sea,

the sea.

On the silent air,

gulls came to us.

I've always wondered why sea birds come inland.

I love their cry ,

as it takes me to seashores

across the world.

I was the woman yesterday I was born to be,

cooking surf and turf for our extended family,

crab claws and langoustine

and steak ,

perfectly pink in the middle.

We talked and laughed and sang songs that reminded

us of our childhood

while all the while

I

was far away in

another seafarers kingdom

dreaming of the time

you held,

that shell to my ear

  1. What a perfect day, darling!

The sea means so much to me too. That's another thing we have in common. I love the photograph of the seagull. I'm learning to play with the focus on my camera so I can take artistic shots like this. I'm still a novice though! Lol.

I'm glad you and your family had such a lovely day, and I'm glad you were really able to shine - I bet your fantastic cooking was admired by all! :)

You are not a * novice * with your camera,
Your photos are lovely to me.
They always tell the sweetest story and I truly love them.
Today, we are having a really lazy, lie about day,
after looking after everyone yesterday lol
I'm off right now to read your post.

Pretty misty stars

A sound of birds singing

It's early.  And almost a year since I was here. I hear a sound of birds singing  outside my window and a dog barking down the street. ...
