Friday, the reckless one

Shall we be a little reckless

today?

Just because it's Friday?

Post six shots instead of one?

As I drove home

I was thinking about

what to write,

how I loved primary school

and the pencil sharpener that sat

on the teachers desk,

and every time you needed your pencil

sharpened

you just went up and sharpened.

Or that the smell

of my new exercise book

used to make me so happy I almost fell

off my seat,

in my excitement.

How that in primary seven I

was always three reading books ahead of everyone

because words stole

into my heart from the day I read the first one.

This Friday recklessness means my

thoughts have no order.

I dreamed all day of tonight

and the love and the food and the joy.

Of wings as delicate and translucent as

a dragonflies.

Of years gone by

and years that lie in front.

My head is in a beautiful tangle,

my bones feel like they are made

of silk.

Reckless Friday,

how I love you.

Come then,

to me,

and with you,

bring all the

silent

stars.

(If you really want to know, this is where I'm eating. Have a marvellous,
reckless Friday , dears :))

  1. I hope you had a wonderful reckless Friday night, darling. I'm not a seafood fan but some of the pictures really made my mouth water! Lol.

I love the nostalgia in this post today. I'm not sure I was ever three reading books ahead of the class, but I was always in the top set for literacy. I too was enchanted by the words. That's something that has never changed :)

Happy weekend, my sister in spirit!

Pretty misty stars

A sound of birds singing

It's early.  And almost a year since I was here. I hear a sound of birds singing  outside my window and a dog barking down the street. ...
