While in Mexico

Today the glass coloured

raindrops are sitting

still and quiet on the attic windows.

I'm going to make this day

a day when the sun comes out

( it just has)

in great buttery dollops.

A day when we search out

our favourite tea room

and hide

in the corner with our noses buried in

lovely books.

Then we will go walking to the shops

to buy foods from around the world.

Do you ever stop

to think about the countries

when you eat their food?

I do.

Tonight when I serve and see the happy faces

looking up at me

I'll imagine myself on a ranch

wearing a long skirt

and my hair waist length.

Outside the window the land

with stretch for miles

and miles

and cactuses will stand,

dry and tall.

Tumbleweed will blow across the ground

where ghosts of dancers and lovers

flit and float like fireflies.

Then,
I'll smile,
come back to earth and serve my
family the food they
wait for

  1. I can picture you doing just that - your eyes vacant, just for a split second, as you survey your imaginary landscape. Before anyone even notices, you've zapped straight back to reality. I know, because I do this myself all the time :) Have a fantastic Saturday night!

A sound of birds singing

It's early.  And almost a year since I was here. I hear a sound of birds singing  outside my window and a dog barking down the street. ...
