The Dark Hedges

The days pass in an almost unforgivable,

tender haze.

We have American family here

and we travelled today to see * The Dark Hedges* from the TV series

*The Game of Thrones.*

In that soft as silk ,

magical place ~ we let the July air caress us.

I couldn't avert my eyes away from the light,

the way the shadows roamed freely;

in a world they had made their own.

Summer was all around us,

gorgeous in her closeness.

We wore her like a pretty seventies maxi dress.

Driving on then,

we listened to  Karen Carpenter's chocolate voice

as we drove to the Harbour

 where sail boats bobbed

like a little boy's toys in a bath.

The words fell around my head like confetti.

Sitting there under an orange stained sun

I dreamed of mermaids and ancient mariners .

Wishing I could stay till dawn

when the angels fall asleep.
