The silence of the snow
I'm lying in bed in the attic
listening to the silence of the snow.
It's just gone one.
Through the slanted windows I can see the twinkling
lights from other peoples windows.
I think about them.
Reading.
Getting ready for bed.
Huddled on the sofa watching a late night movie.
They too,
listening to the silence ~
perhaps they gaze up at our attic window
and wonder what I am doing.
Doesn't the beauty of this life just stick in your throat sometimes?
When you think about the nicest piece of music you heard today?
Or the loveliest smile that lingers,
a warm memory deep within.
Some would say I wrap myself in stars to protect from the harsh edges of life.
Maybe.
But then these thoughts come easy in the night.
Even then,
the world glitters.
Beneath the silen........
