Down to the salty sea

Hello dears.

How has your week been?

Here in the UK we have been suffering

with rain, rain, rain.

Every day I remind myself of things

we must always be grateful for.

This week I slowed down

to do just that.

Thought about the important things of living in this world.

Yesterday I spent the day with my darling husband,

and we talked of how life can sometimes be unsettling

and at others so wonderful it takes your breath away.

He said * everything good that can be found in this life is a gift.*

I looked into his darling green eyes and

( as I always do) saw the salty sea.

I pondered what he said.

We lost a friend to pancreatic cancer this week.

She was 48 years old and leaves behind three darling children.

I guess this was the reason for our deep thoughts.

We can't own or produce love.

The love of a mother, husband, friend.

It's a gift that must be shared.

On a brighter note,

we have Americans coming to stay for five whole weeks!

They are part of our extended family

and I can't wait to see them.

In the middle of their visit

we are going to take a week long road trip

down south to Cork.

Down to the salty sea.

I'll read

and whisper the words across the ocean,

to where you are

  1. Hi A, hope all is well.
I'm so sorry about your friend. Time is so precious and sometimes I'm guilty of forgetting this, as I'm sure we all are.
I can't believe how much rain we have had, and are still having. We go away at the weekend, heading up into lovely Yorkshire, the first holiday since 2009...a lot has happened while we've not been in touch, but thats another story. So we are really hoping that the sun peeks through a little.
I really hope you enjoy having the extended family over and enjoy cork and the sea :)
Take care my lovely ..lots of love H ...oh and have a wonderful birthday x x x x x

  2. Hello my darling darling friend!
Thank you as ever, for your kind kind words! I was just thinking today that we have been communicating on line and via post for almost six years now. How wonderful the friendships that spring up via the web!
I hope you have a wonderful trip to Yorkshire. I hear it is a lovely part of the world. I was there once and had a lovely glass of wine in a pretty beer garden by a river lol. So a happy memory :)
Life is precious H, you are right.
We should stop every day and take a minute, just to give thanks for it.
Have a wonderful trip my friend, and thank you for your loving words and birthday wishes.

Pretty misty stars

A sound of birds singing

It's early.  And almost a year since I was here. I hear a sound of birds singing  outside my window and a dog barking down the street. ...
